DAY 1

Transfer from the Airport to San José (25 minutes transfer approx. – 17 KM)

Welcome to San Jose, Costa Rica.

We will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel. Once in the capital city, you can visit the theaters, museums, and beautiful parks or simply enjoy a cup of Costa Rican coffee while watching the daily life of the «Ticos».

DAY 2

Private Transfer San Jose to Arenal  (3 hours approx. – 130 km)

Transfer to La Fortuna, where awaits the impressive Arenal Volcano, one of the natural wonders of the country for its majesty. Today there aren’t lava eruptions, but you can still observe the smoke, and ash spewing out of the top of the volcano.  The Arenal Volcano region is an exquisite destination for its attractive landscape, its hot springs, and Lake Arenal.  During the transfer, you will see agricultural plantations, ornamental plants and cattle farms.

DAY 3

Arenal

We are going to visit La Fortuna Waterfall; a view of the 70-meter-high waterfall and a 600 meters hike to the natural pool at the base. (Bring swim clothes, a towel, and special water shoes because of the rocky river bottom). Later on, drive to an organic production farm near La Fortuna for lunch.

At 3:00 p.m. tour continues to the Arenal National Park, in here the tour guide will talk about the natural and geological history of the volcano, cross a path of solid lava and enjoy an excellent view over the volcano and Lake Arenal.

DAY 4

Arenal

DAY 5

Private Transfer Arenal to Tortuguero (4 hours approx. – 200 KM)

Transfer to Guápiles, one of Costa Rica’s most popular cities, located within the banana-growing region of the country.

In Guápiles you will enjoy a delicious typical breakfast. Afterward, you will continue driving past banana and pineapple plantations until you reach the pier where you will board your boat to Tortuguero. The boat ride along rivers and canals takes approximately an hour and a half to arrive at your lodge. You will be just in time for lunch! In the afternoon, you will enjoy a guided visit to the picturesque town of Tortuguero. Dinner is included at the lodge.

DAY 6

This morning you will go on a boat tour through the canals of the Tortuguero National Park. Called Costa Rica’s “little Amazon”, Tortuguero National Park is one of the country’s wilderness areas with the greatest biological biodiversity. The canals are surrounded by lush tropical forest filled with abundant wildlife, and the beaches are famous for being the habitat of seven species of sea turtles. A mid-morning you will walk along the lodge’s private trails with a naturalist guide, and then have free time to enjoy the facilities. We highly recommend the nocturnal turtle nesting excursion (extra cost applies). Dinner is included at the lodge.

DAY 7

Private Transfer from Tortuguero to Puerto Viejo (3 hours approx. – 153 KM)

Mid-morning you will depart by boat back to the main dock and then travel by ground transportation to Guápiles, where you will have lunch.

Transfer to the South Caribbean, a place to visit the different beaches that surround it. Highlights include the coral reefs of Playa Cahuita, in addition to the multicolored sand beaches (from black, yellow, and gray), coastal vegetation, and forests of medium height. Don’t forget to interact with the locals and learn a little about their customs and traditions. Also, we invite you to try the Patí or Rice & Beans which will leave you with a Caribbean flavor to remember.

DAY 8

Puerto Viejo

The Jaguar Rescue Center, managed by the Ceiba Primary Forest Foundation, is an organization that rescues and rehabilitates wild animals to release them and return them to protected areas. During 2020 alone, for example, we received 803 animals, of which 363 were released, 123 remained in rehabilitation, and 317 couldn’t survive.

Approximately 50% are mammals and the rest are birds and reptiles. During your visit to the JRC Sanctuary, you will discover different kinds of wild animals such as monkeys, sloths, wild cats, raccoons, and reptiles, as well as different kinds of birds. You will also be able to observe many of Costa Rica’s venomous snake species. The amount of the donation for your visit will be invested entirely in our animals.

DAY 9

Puerto Viejo

The hike with trail interpretation, the guide will take you through different points between Punta Cahuita and the village of Cahuita (3.5 km) observing various types of snakes (boas, bocaraca, velvets, velvet, oropel, micas, etc.) Sloths, white-faced monkeys, howler monkeys, anteaters, armadillos, raccoons, blue morphos, other butterflies, birds, invertebrates, sea and land mollusks, as well as medicinal plants, orchids, trees, ferns, bromeliads and vertebrates.

DAY 11

Private Transfer from Puerto Viejo to Osa Peninsula (1.5 hours approx. -61 KM)

Transfer to the South Caribbean, a place to visit the different beaches that surround it. Don’t forget to interact with the locals and learn a little about their customs and traditions. DAY 12

Osa Peninsula

No matter the time of the year, there’s always something wild to see! This tour takes you to La Leona Ranger Station for a full-day hike in the Corcovado National Park.Throughout the hike you cross various rivers, long stretches of beach, and forest trails.

It holds the largest primary forest of the American Pacific, along with one of the few remnants of sizeable tropical rainforest in the world. Corcovado is home to an estimated 2.5% of the planet’s biodiversity, with 13 different types of ecosystems, this is the ideal place to observe the country’s most endangered species, such as the Tapir, Scarlet Macaw, Squirrel monkeys and White Lipped Peccaries.

DAY 13

Osa Peninsula

Kayaking is another activity you can do to enjoy the beautiful Golfo Dulce, which is a unique ecosystem, being one of the very few tropical fjords in the world. Same as with the Dolphin Watching, The departure point of the kayaking tour is the Puerto Jimenez beach. There, you will paddle out in your own kayak, or you may opt for a double one, in case you wish to share the ride. Delight in the breathtaking scenery that the Gulf offers at dusk in the sunset kayaking tour or go and explore the mangroves with a guide that will tell you all about that curious and fascinating little world. Bear in mind that the type of kayaking tour available depends on the tide. Also, no previous experience is required!

Osa Peninsula

Transfer from Domestic Terminal to International Terminal in San Jose

We will meet you at the Domestic terminal and transfer you the the Main Terminal for you check in and fly back home.
